Easily Take Full Webpage Screenshots In Chrome

Chrome Photo-Video ExtensionsThere are times when we need to take a full webpage screenshots, but it’s not always easy. Such functionality is often provided by advanced screenshot tools like Snag It – and most other screenshot programs lack this feature.

It doesn’t make sense to buy or even install a complete program for taking a few full-page screenshots. Is there is a good and quality alternative for taking full-page screenshots? Thankfully, there is and its very easy and convenient to use.

It’s called the “Webpage Screenshot” Extension for Google Chrome. It’s an incredibly useful addon, with several added features, which effectively converts Google Chrome into a quality image capture tool.

Webpage Screenshot Usage:

Simplicity is the hallmark of this extension. One click to take the picture, one click to edit it and one click to share or save it. That’s about it.

The full webpage screenshots are of surprisingly good quality and are just as clear as the original website. It’s difficult to figure out that the screenshot has been taken by a browser-based tool and not a professional image tool.

This extension uses the “CaptureVisibleTab“  command defined by Chrome developers.  Since they constantly improve the quality of this function – the extension would get better with time – adding more features.

Once you install this extension, you would get a new “camera” icon in the extensions bar at top right. Whenever you need to take a screenshot just click on the icon.

    2 problems with this extension:

    1) There is no way to eliminate the top and bottom gaps reserved for meta-data. Even when you put blanks, these spaces are still added to the capture. Very annoying.

    2) You cant control the quality of the JPEG image. Even more, it will be saved with the extension PNG even though it is actually a JPEG. Sounds too “Beta-ish” to be released as a working Chrome extension.

Besides that it does the job
Waiting to see these 2 items corrected soon.

When we first wrote about the extension, you needed to select the folder where the image had to be saved. There wasn’t any option to for a pre-defined folder. After checking the latest version, we found that this feature hasn’t changed and you would need to save the screenshot manually each time.
