The Redmi Note 2 ups the game. The improved specs and a good-looking MIUI skin make the Redmi Note 2 a highly viable and competitive smartphone, at a budget price.

Redmi Note 2 Availability

The Redmi Note 2 was initially available only in Chinese markets where it was a tremendous success with the flash sales ending with 800,000 units sold within 12 hours. The phone is now available for globally but has to be ordered online through popular (and trusted) Chinese e-tailers like GearBest. The phone can be ordered for delivery in most countries and it should only take a few business days.

The GearBest website is verified by Norton security and accepts payments via PayPal, Credit Cards, Wire Transfer, and the Western Union.

Xiaomi was growing fast in the Indian market, but the sale of Xiaomi devices is temporarily banned in India due to a patent infringement case filed by Ericsson. The easiest way for Indians interested in buying this phone would be to order it online as there is no known timeline as to when the ban on the sale of Xiaomi devices would be lifted.

Initial Impressions of Redmi Note 2

The Redmi Note 2 has impressive specs and for those who are not always looking to be on the cutting-edge phones, this is a good, performant and cheap option. The phone has a regular price of $248 but can be grabbed with a huge 31% discount at $170 when under offer (Prices via GearBest.)

We procured the Redmi Note 2 from Gearbest and it was delivered to us in India within 5 days, which is pretty impressive delivery time.

As usual, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2 is a phone that gives a decent value for your money. On one hand, it matches the specs of other flagship devices by going for Octa-core processor and a 13 MP camera while on the other hand, it has to compromise on display, storage, RAM and look & feel to keep the price low.

We will be doing a thorough review of the Redmi Note 2 in the next few days, but initial impressions about the device are quite positive. Personally, even though I am a flagship device person, I get the appeal of a phone like Redmi Note 2 at a very attractive price.

The good part is they are currently giving a discount of 31%. Just make sure you understand the import duty charges if you order from there while taking the final pricing into account. Overall the buying experience was satisfying.
