YouSendIt is best known as a convenient alternative to email when you have large files to send, but now the company is stepping up a gear with the launch of a Dropbox-style cloud storage and file sharing solution with a low-price unlimited plan.

What new features does YouSendIt offer?

YouSendIt has rolled out three types of plans a visitor can sign up for to share data: Lite, Pro and Plus.

(2) yousendit plans

YouSendIt has introduced document signing as one of its new features. This is limited to five documents for a Lite account, 10 for a Pro account and unlimited with a Pro Plus account. This allows you to share a document with someone, have them sign it and then have a copy of it on file. You can even sign the document from your computer or mobile phone.

(4) signing a file

The Lite YouSendIt plan is what most users are familiar with although it comes with some changes. For starters, you can now host up to 2 GB of data on YouSendIt’s servers. The maximum file size is only 50 MB with 2 GB for the Pro and Pro Plus versions.

All three plans come with mobile and desktop sync application access. The mobile application is only available for the iOS at the moment with an Android application in the works.

(6) itouch app

If you opt for more storage with a Pro or Pro Plus account, you have access to YouSendIt’s drop box feature. The drop box concept has become popular amongst file sharing services, because it makes it easier to manage folders and files. A drop box allows you to drag and drop files to be uploaded directly.

(5) desktop app

It also allows someone else to e-mail files directly to your drop box when you give them the link to do so.

(3) dropbox

You can sign up for free and use the Lite version of YouSendIt or you can opt to pay and upgrade to a Pro or Pro Plus account. If you want to see what either has to offer, you can sign up for a 14 day trial to test out more features and see if it is worth it. You do have to add your PayPal or credit card to your YouSendIt account to sign up for a free trial.
