Have you ever been surfing the web and thought “That’s a really cool font! I want that on my site.”? I know I’ve seen a few that I tried to track down, but it’s not always easy. The good news is, figuring out a font on the web is a lot easier now.
What’s the font? is a Chrome extension that adds an option to your right click menu letting you easily find out what that font is. Whether you are a web developer, having a site made or looking for a cool font for a new tattoo, What’s the font? will save you some time.
If you are new to web design or just have a love for typography read on, you may want to give it a whirl.
Setting up What’s the font
You will need to go to the Chrome Web Store download the What’s the font? extension. Once you do, you have done all of the setup you need to do.

Using What’s the font
To use What’s the font, you will first need a website with an interesting font. Take a look at Jesús Rodríguez-Velasco’s site

When you find one, you will need to highlight the text you are interested in. This will tell What’s the font? which text you are looking to get the name of. Many times with more complex sites, there may be multiple font types.

While the text is highlighted, right-click on the text. You will see the option for What’s the font? in your right-click menu.

Click on What’s the font? and you will see a notification window pop-up with the name of the font.

Limitations
There are A LOT of cool fonts used in logos. The problem is, they are not usually on the site as an actual word; they are an image. What’s the font does not work on text in images. That being said, there are a lot of sites out there designed with really neat fonts for their page text. When you see one of these, you can follow the steps listed above to find out what it is.
