It was the first game to feature the bullet time effect popularized by The Matrix, taking to the pinnacle of third-person shooter games of those days. The game received both commercial and critical success and has been made into a series. The latest release in the franchise, Max Payne 3, was recently released for Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 consoles as well as for Windows.
