Move Apps From Android Phone To SD Card

The internal storage space on many Android phones is not much to begin with. This internal storage space is used as RAM for running active applications, reserved space for running the operating system as well as cache memory.

The remaining space can be used to install applications and it is simply not enough.

If you are anything like us and like to try out a lot of new apps, you are bound to run out of internal storage space sooner than later.

Android 2.2 Froyo Edition allows the user to manage their applications and move the installed apps to external storage(SD card). However, this feature is application dependent and many apps still do not offer this option.

Android Application Management and Application Info

The limitation in the Android 2.2 version is that you have to check each and every app individually to see if it can be moved to SD card. With a lot of apps installed on your phone, this can get quite hectic. Lets look at an app that would make this process simple and quick.

Move Apps To External Storage By Using App 2 SD :

App 2 SD makes your task of moving the applications to SD card a lot easier. The app displays three tabs – first one lists all the apps that can be moved to SD card, second one lists all the apps on the SD card that can be moved back to the phone storage and the third tab shows all the apps that can be installed on the phone only.

Possible drawbacks of moving app to SD Card:

If you mount your SD card for computer access, any active applications that are installed on the SD card are likely to close and you may not be able to run it as long as the card is mounted. In case the card gets corrupted, you will not be able to access the app and will need to download it again.
