As a commuter, I’m always looking for a better way to protect and use my tablet on the go. It’s easier said than done. There are a thousand cases out there that claim to protect and let people like me use their tablets with ease. Few actually do.
I was lucky enough to try out the RooCASE Dual-View Vegan Folio Case, designed for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Let’s look at how it took the punishment of my daily commute.
Who is RooCASE?
RooCASE is a relatively small, Los Angeles-based mobile phone and tablet case and accessory provider. If you’ve looked for a case for your tablet or phone in the last 18 months, you’ve come across the name RooCASE.
While they may not as well-known as OtterBox and some of the other case makers in the market, they offer some unique designs and functional cases that can’t be overlooked.
RooCASE Dual-View Vegan Folio
The Dual-View Vegan Folio comes in three pieces: A detachable outer layer and an inner layer that protects your tablet. It also comes with a stylus/pen combo.
The outer layer uses a magnetic flap to close the folio portion around the inner layer protecting your tablet. It also offers a convenient way to store your stylus so you don’t lose it, especially on the go.
The outer layer is rugged and secure, which feels nice to the touch. It can be easily removed so you can use the tablet while it’s encased in the inner layer. Keep in mind while this outer layer provides protection, it’s not meant to protect from high drops.
The inner layer surrounds the entire tablet, securing itself in place by the use of a magnetic flap. It can take a few tries to get the flap in far enough to not only secure your tablet in place but ensure you can easily swipe from left to right and top to bottom properly. The layer provides easy access to all buttons, including the camera, with no obstruction.
The stylus is generic and functional at the basic levels. The blue and black ink pen that is also built-in works okay, but I’d prefer to have a full-fledged stylus on the go than the pen function. The stylus works as well as one would expect for generic. I had some issues when using Papyrus to take notes as it didn’t seem like the stylus could write as well as others I’ve used in the past.
When using the outer layer and inner layer together, you can get various views from your tablet.
As you can see, you can use your tablet vertical this way.
Then, use it horizontal this way.
It took a few tries to get my tablet to sit properly in the outer layer when viewing it in either direction. I felt this was more something you have to get used to when buying the case than a flaw in design but for some, it might be an added frustration that makes them look elsewhere for a dual-view case.
As a commuter, I don’t often use my tablet in either of the above ways, but it’s come in handy when at work and at a home when I want to watch something on Netflix or read a book on the Amazon Kindle app.
As you can see, this case is easy to use and multi-purpose for anyone who owns a tablet. Luckily, it’s designed for more than just a Galaxy Tab 3 and can be used with a variety of tablets across the industry.
Should You Buy the RooCASE Dual-View Vegan Folio Case?
The RooCASE Dual-View Vegan Folio Case is a great choice for commuters looking for functionality on the go. It’s also a great choice for those looking for function over straight protection. It’s light-weight, durable and has a professional look to it no matter where you go or where you use your tablet.
For its price and functionality, you’d be hard-pressed to find a similar case for the value. Whether you’re a commuter on the go or looking for something at home, this case lives up to its expectations.
