Have you ever wished that you could get access to all your Google service accounts from a single location? It would definitely be more convenient and a huge time saver. How about accessing other services all from a single location?

Everyone has their own top 5-10 frequented websites that they access at least 2-3 times a day, so of course, being able to access them all from a single location is an ideal setting. Integrated Gmail is a Firefox addon that will change how you access your Google accounts and most frequented sites.

Integrated Gmail helps you clean up your inbox by making it collapsible and so that you can open and close different services and accounts as needed. By doing this it also helps to save space and helps to make an overloaded inbox look less intimidating.

It also helps you boost your productivity by letting you access everything you need right from your Gmail inbox. Once installed, head over the Firefox Addons Manager and click on “Options” for Integrated Gmail.

Add Accounts

If you have several Gmail and/or Google App email addresses, you can add them all and customize the settings for each account. This way, when you’re logged into a specific account Integrated Gmail can then adjust according to the settings you have for it.

You can do this by simply clicking on the “Add” button within the addon options and entering the email address of the account you’d like to add.

Add New Account

Element Selection

Here you can choose services and accounts (elements) to add as a collapsible section to your Gmail account. You can choose from: contacts, voice, tasks, Wave, notebook, groups, maps, Picasa, sites, news, portfolio, custom, and gadget.

Elements can be added and removed here as well as rearranged. Whatever order you see here is the order in which they’ll appear in your inbox.

Element Settings

Clicking on each element will let you see settings and customize it further.

Custom Element

Integrated Gmail doesn’t have to be used just to access Google services, it can be used to access all of your most frequently used services from a single location.

The custom element lets you add any site to access right from your Gmail account. All you need is the URL and you can add a name and customize it as you like (just like any other element).

Custom Element

Since you can customize Integrated Gmail for each Google email that you have, you can really use this custom element to your advantage.

For example, you may want to use an outside task or list manager for work, so you can create a custom element under your business account for that specific tool. With your personal account, you can add fun social tools or other personal sites that you can’t use while working. As you can see in the image below, I added my school email so that I can access it from within my personal inbox.

Custom Element in Gmail

The only issue with custom elements is that some sites do not allow framed access. Meaning, it can’t load within an iframe and will pop out, taking you away from your email inbox and to the actual site. This is where Google Gadgets can come in handy (see below).

Gadget Element

You can view any Google Gadget by getting the script code and inserting it into the element settings. This is great for sites like Twitter and Facebook that won’t work via a custom element (due to restricted frame usage). There are large variety of Google Gadgets, so I’m sure you can find some that you’d like to easily access from your email.

Final Thoughts

It’s obvious that Integrated Gmail is a must-have tool for power users and Internet workers. It’s always great to have a new way to boost productivity and make things easier. I only wish that the addon was available for other browsers as well (mainly Google Chrome). We do have something similar for Chrome, but it doesn’t quite have the features of Integrated Gmail. The extensions called Symtica and you can read more about it here.
