The Apple Logo is one of the most iconic and recognizable corporate logos in history. It’s so well known that you don’t need a name to accompany the logo. The logo says it all. But the logo has not always been as you see it today. The current Apple Logo is the third logo adopted by the company.

Apple’s first logo depicts Sir Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree, with an apple dangling precipitously above his head. This logo lasted barely a year. This was replaced by a logo designed by Rob Janoff- The Rainbow Apple with a bite. The colored stripes were conceived to make the logo more accessible. This logo lasted from 1976 to 1998. After 1998 till present, the logo bears a modern monochromatic look that has taken on a variety of sizes and colors over the past few years.

Though Apple changed its logo, the Rainbow Apple was a beautiful design that inspired passion among  many artists. The Rainbow Apple has been portrayed in a multitude of imaginative ways, creating the most beautiful artworks. Apple Retro Theme for Windows captures some of this art with 30+ hi-Res wallpapers, Apple Icons, custom sounds and cursors. Fun Facts and Trivia about Apple Logo:

  • The first Apple logo was designed by Ron Wayne, co-founder of Apple Computer.
  • It is said that the “bite” in the Apple logo was originally implemented so that people would know that it represented an apple and not a tomato.
  • It also lent itself to a nerdy play on words (bite/byte), a fitting reference for a tech company.
  • The Rainbow Apple was also meant to represent the fact the Apple monitor could reproduce images in color.
