Google Chrome Logo Google Chrome has surpassed all other browsers in speed, efficiency and features, but that does not mean its perfect. It has a few shortcomings too. However, with the correct Chrome Extension you can get almost any feature in Chrome.

If you are anything like me you often open a number of tabs in your chrome browser. Sometime if you open a large number of tabs, it becomes impossible to find a specific webpage by looking at the tabs. Does this look familiar? Overflowing Tabs?

In Google Chrome if too many tabs are open, you can’t make out which tab belongs to which website. You need to read labels of each tab one by one to get to the tab you want. That’s just waste of time.

Firefox has a nice feature in which we can click on the down button on far end of tabs bar and we will see all the open tabs. This feature is missing in Google Chrome. You can easily get past this issue with the Tab Menu chrome extension.

You can choose your keyboard shortcuts to access tab menu drop down directly without clicking  on it. (Because of limitations on what Chrome extensions can do, the keyboard shortcut may not work on all pages and may need pages to be refreshed to take effect.)

You may also choose if the number of tabs open be shown on hover or the counter should show up on the Tab Menu button itself.

Within the Tab Menu window here are a few features of the extension:

  • Select a tab – Click on tab name or enter key
  • Close a tab: Close button or middle click
  • Rearrange tabs: drag-and-drop and they would automatically rearrange in the tab bar
  • Find tabs: search both tab titles and URLs with search box
  • Navigate through tab menu: mouse or tab key (pretty useful for guys who like using keyboards rather than a mouse)

The tab menu can be easily navigated with the keyboard, so it offer much more flexibility as compared to Google Chrome’s tab management features.

A features in the works:
